Zed Mall is a strategic commercial intervention by Zawaya Developments, meticulously designed to respond to the unique geographic and social criteria of its prominent site in New Damietta. The project serves as an “Urban Focal Point,” offering a high-density retail ecosystem that balances commercial vibrancy with sophisticated public space. By integrating a diverse range of commercial and retail spaces, the developer has created a destination that satisfies the city’s evolving demand for a modern, multi-functional lifestyle hub.
Design Philosophy
The design philosophy for Zed Mall is centered on Topographical Fluidity and the creation of an interconnected, multi-level public realm.
The Terraced Master Plan: The core architectural innovation is the use of sprawling, white horizontal terraces. These organic, fluid levels extend outward to create expansive rooftop seating and promenade areas, effectively doubling the mall's social footprint.
Structural Porosity: The philosophy utilizes a "Porous Shell" approach. Instead of an enclosed box, the mall is designed as a series of open-air walkways and sheltered plazas, supported by sleek structural columns and framed by floor-to-ceiling glass storefronts.
Axial Connectivity: The project is organized around a primary pedestrian axis that connects the street level to elevated terraces via sculptural staircases and integrated escalators, ensuring seamless movement through the various commercial layers.
Key Features
The Rooftop Social Deck: A primary feature of the design is the massive, curvilinear rooftop deck. This elevated landscape is designed for high-end dining and social interaction, providing panoramic views of the New Damietta urban fabric.
Active Street Frontage: The ground plane is dedicated to high-visibility retail and restaurant storefronts, protected by deep architectural overhangs that foster a Mediterranean-style outdoor lifestyle.
Digital Integration: Strategic facade sections are reserved for integrated digital signage and creative LED displays, ensuring the mall maintains a dynamic, modern presence after sunset.
Material Sophistication: The aesthetic utilizes a high-contrast palette of monolithic white planes, textured stone cladding, and warm timber accents, reinforcing the developer's commitment to clean, contemporary architecture.
